Private Equity World Latin America 2007 Contact: Richard Gilmore Release Date: June 15, 2007 GIC Group Dr. Richard Gilmore Addresses Sector-specific Opportunities in Latin America “It’s a good news/bad news story,” according to Rick Gilmore, CEO of GIC Group. Miami. In his presentation at Private Equity World, Latin America 2007, Gilmore pointed to “a marked improvement in book values for agro-enterprises in Latin America.” GIC has done a number of private placements in Latin America and has participated in efforts to launch a private agro-equity fund in the region. At the annual private equity conference, Gilmore warned that there’s also a downside-- “the pendulum is swinging back to inflationary conditions fueled by higher commodity prices and misguided economic policies.” Despite the pitfalls of over-valuations and limited exits, Dr. Gilmore concluded his remarks in an upbeat mode, stating that “ Latin America is still trailing on equity investment ratios but the opportunities have increased, particularly in the ag space.”
