Alexandria, VA – GIC is
pleased to announce today that Perdue Farms has concluded a new soybean meal to Cuba transaction. The ship will be loaded at Perdue Farms' soybean meal facility in the Port of Norfolk, Virginia. This
second shipment will be delivered in December 2003, making a total of 40,000 tons of soybean meal sold by Perdue to Cuba. According
to Daniel Secondi, Director of Latin America Business Development for GIC, "Cuba is a growing client for the Commonwealth of Virginia." Mr. Secondi spearheaded the transaction by assisting in the
structuring of the final sales contract in direct negotiation with Cuban buyers. He further confirmed that other contracts between the Cubans and Virginia companies, such as sales of wood and processed apple
products, are still under negotiation.GIC has a contract with the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS) for export promotion to Latin America, helping Virginia companies
develop new business in the region. At present, GIC is planning and organizing a trade mission to Cuba for Virginia companies. Mr. Secondi acknowledged that, "GIC would like to see more
