Press Release “Global Food Safety Forum Hosting Steering Committee Members in China” Beijing , China, November 4-5, 2009 -- Global Food Safety Forum (GFSF) is hosting steering committee members at the new office of Bric Global Agricultural Consultant Ltd., GIC Group’s partner and a leading Chinese agribusiness consulting firm, during the China International Food Safety & Quality Conference & Expo 2009, sponsored by China’s General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine . GFSF is participating in the conference and has an exhibit at the Expo. As a result of the successful Global Food Safety Roundtable held in Beijing, China, in April of 2009, participating business leaders from major sectors of the global food chain agreed that it is necessary to establish an industry partnership to examine options for setting up an industry-wide self-certification system and advance food safety and facilitate business and trade . GFSF is jointly managed by The GIC Group and Bric Global Agricultural Consultant Ltd., with offices in Washington, DC, and Beijing. It is a not-for-profit organization with a diverse but interrelated industry membership: producers, processors, merchandisers/ shippers/distributors, and retailers. It has been welcomed and endorsed by China’s Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Agriculture. GFSF focuses on the global food chain. We are building a safety infrastructure from farm to fork. Our committees are centering on international concerns in creating and validating multi-industry standards, tightening certification procedures, offering training workshops to companies, and advancing quality controls. Our goal is to strengthen the weak links and give consumers the assurances they rightfully deserve.
