GIC Announces Successful Completion
of Brazil Acquisition>
As investment manager for the transaction,
GIC's President, Rick Gilmore, said, "This is an ideal transaction for
all parties concerned. The unique structure of the company, its access
to supply throughout the country, and Brazil's recent currency devaluation
all point to a highly profitable venture."
Gilmore went on to note that "we are
proud to have identified Eximcoop as an ideal acquisition for ITOCHU and
to have served as investment manager for the entire transaction."
The GIC Group, an agribusiness
consulting and investment company, announced today that ITOCHU Corporation
completed its acquisition of 51% of Eximcoop, Brazil. Eximcoop is
Brazil's third largest commodity trading company. Its original shareholders,
all grower cooperatives, will continue to hold 49% of the equity in the
company.
