CCC and GIC Group launch comprehensive global carbon management approach for agriculture
New agribusiness carbon advisory and transaction partnership combines carbon footprinting, reduction strategies, financial analysis and price forecasting
ARLINGTON , Va. , Jan. 13, 2009 – Agribusiness and biotechnology companies have a new, reliable way to forecast project market values. Clear Carbon Consulting (CCC) and GIC Group (GIC) have partnered to offer strategic carbon management services for agricultural firms including carbon footprint inventories, reduction strategies, analysis of carbon mitigation projects, and valuation and trading strategies.

GIC recently developed two agriculture-specific carbon credit indices to serve as financial tools for valuing emissions reductions from agribusiness entities. The indices also afford them another metric for assessing how a potential merger or acquisition target may result in a financial liability or asset depending on the target’s carbon emissions profile. Beyond financial valuations, the indices will serve as benchmarks for valuing publicly traded agriculture-related carbon credits.
